2023 JPAA IP Practitioners Seminar

BANGKOK, Thailand – Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA) organized a 2-day seminar on February 27-28, 2023. The event was formally opened by Ms. Junko Sugimura, President of JPAA. The said event provided participants a practical overview of the Japanese intellectual property (IP) system and environment. Moreover, aach session will gave the attendees with specific tools and information which they could use to streamline prosecution, increase the value of their IP Portfolio, and reduce overall costs.

The event was in coordination with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for Intellectual Property in Southeast Asia, the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court (CIPITC), the Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand (DIP), and the Intellectual Property Association of Thailand (IPAT). During the plenary session, various topics were tackled including a discussion on distinctiveness in Japanese trademark examination, protection of three-dimensional configuration in Japan, and enforcement against trademark infringement in Japan. Similarly, workshops were conducted pertaining to Trademark Law in Japan, dealing with Office Actions, bad faith applications, and basic knowledge about Madrid Protocol.
