2024 WIPO Summer School - IP in Emerging Economies

The WIPO – IPOPHL Summer School in Emerging Economies was be held in Metro Manila from September 16 to 27, 2024, in a full face-to-face format. This program is accredited for 36 MCLE units, providing Filipino lawyers with an excellent opportunity to fulfill their continuing legal education requirements while engaging in the training. It was a 10-day face-to-face training program designed to provide an opportunity for participants to acquire deeper knowledge of each domain of intellectual property (IP). The program consisted of lectures, panel discussions, simulation exercises, and group presentations on selected IP topics, with an orientation towards the interface between IP and sustainable development in emerging economies.

The culmination of the Summer School was the presentation of the research proposal of the participants concerning Intellectual Property Rights/Issues in relation to pre-selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The Econovator Team was hailed the Champion for the Best Paper with their topic, “From Frames to Funds: Proposing a Framework for the Intellectual Property Valuation of Creative Contents Used as Collaterals to Secure Funding”. Atty. Jose Mari Cristi H. Dealino, an associate of HBVAR Lawyers was a part of the winning team.
