WORLD BOOK COPYRIGHT DAY: A Report

TAGUIG CITY, Philippines – On April 23, 2024, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) celebrated the World Book Copyright Day with the theme, “IP and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Building our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity. The World Book Copyright Day celebration was organized by the Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights. During the event, the organizers conducted a story-telling children in the morning followed by a seminar on IP and the Sustainable Development Goals in the afternoon.
Deputy Director General Ann Claire C. Cabochan, Deputy Director General Nathaniel Arevalo, and Director Christine Canlapan, all from the IPOPHL also attended the seminar together with other stakeholders in the creative industry.
Ms. Jolizbeth Justo, also known as “Teacher Dyali”, discussed her experience and the challenges she faced as a school teacher. She presented her advocacy program named as “Project Buklat” geared towards students, which aims to address the problem of the stomach by giving children food and the problem of the mind by providing them with reading materials.
At the end of the seminar, Director Cuyo announced that the 2nd Philippine International Copyright Summit will be held in October 2024.
